Follow-up on Buzzr

Maybe I've been giving the oldies boards a little too much credit.

I've been assuming that the boards were consciously ignoring the exec shake-up at Buzzr. I thought they didn't want to talk about things not going so well at their beloved oldies diginet. Turns out, the oldies boards may not even have known about the shake-up.

It's not like it's been some deep dark secret. It's all public info on the web. There were a lot of stories earlier this year about Fremantle bringing in Rick Glankler to "oversee and provide strategic insight to" Buzzr. Not long afterward, a story in Broadcasting and Cable quoted new general manager Mark Deetjen on the diginet's plans. Deetjen was formerly the programming veep at Buzzr reporting to the original general manager, Ron Garfield. Finally, Ron Garfield's own LinkedIn page (free membership required) confirms that his time at Buzzr is over. He dates his term at the diginet as "2015-2018 - 3 yrs."

So yeah, there's been quite a shake-up at Buzzr. It's no accident that lots of interesting things have happened lately at the diginet. Gee, I thought everybody knew.
