Friday marks the Saskatchewan debut for QB Zach Collaros. The 29-year old Cincinnati product passed for 1,767 yards with Hamilton last year (8 TDs, 7 INTs).

ARGO NOTES: The Argos won the East Division pennant in 2017 with a 9-9 record (3-6 on the road, 3-7 versus the West Division) ... 38-year old QB Ricky Ray was 2nd in CFL passing last year with 5,546 yards (28 TDs, 11 INTs) and was the Grey Cup MVP.

HEAD-TO-HEAD: The Riders swept the season series against the Argos last year winning 38-27 at home on July 29 and 27-24 on October 7 at BMO Field.

DEFENDING CHAMPS - The Argonauts are aiming to replicate what they did last November when they beat Saskatchewan in the East Division final (25-21). Toronto went on to beat the Stampeders for its CFL-best 17th Grey Cup in franchise history.

QUARTERBACK QUESTIONS - Zach Collaros and Brandon Bridge both saw limited against last Friday against Calgary, while Ray's durability has been an issue in past seasons. Rider coach Chris Jones has not publicly named his starting QB for Week 1.

RUNNING GAME - Two of the CFL's biggest running backs go head-to-head with Saskatchewan's Jerome Messam taking on James Wilder Jr. Jones said that it will be a "blue collar night'' for his defence against Wilder.

OUT WITH THE OLD - The Roughriders will have some fresh targets for their quarterback to throw to. Although they still have Carter and Roosevelt, they cut veterans Rob Bagg, Bakari Grant and Chad Owens.

PRE-SEASON WOES - Saskatchewan struggled in its two pre-season games that included losses against Edmonton and Calgary. The Roughriders scored just 12 points in each of those two games.
