Woxow (also known as Theo Melody), a music producer who operates in Italy and has shared the stage with names such as Alborosie, Emir Kusturica, Fat Freddy's Drop, among many others, is about to release his debut album Alcazar under his own label, Little Beat More. The record will have collaborations with names such as Blacc El, Akil the MC (from Jurassic 5) and Ken Boothe.
Such as the record itself, the lead single "Up", featuring his long-time companion and Copenhagen-based MC Blacc El, drinks its influence from the golden age boom-bap era of hip-hop, as well as having a jazzy downtempo background that is smooth as velvet and helps transmit its message - delivered by Blacc El - of social critique, love and hope just as smoothly, with the video itself showing various eras of pop culture (animation, live-action movies, anything goes!), footage of real life issues such as pollution and politics and emphasis on the humble beginnings of the constant growth of hip-hop culture. A remix version of “Up” made by the producer Hugo Kant will follow down the line.
Take a look at the video first-hand below.
