But they've both got plenty of the same attitude that we've come to know and love from the Big Apple. A reader of the NY Daily News contributes a bit of the New York City zeitgeist in a comment on, of all things, Cash Cab.
I just love when the winners leave the Cash Cab and flash $100 bills to the people walking by in the middle of Manhattan. I'm just waiting for one of the winners to get mugged.
Sorry to break the bad news, but the winners didn't get to keep the actual currency. Instead, they got a check later with all the proper witholdings. (Ain't no witholding like a proper witholding.) But the bills made for nice images as the show went to commercial.
So you could say that the show itself forestalled any muggers lurking around the cab. Though Ben and his taxi did draw some notice as they made their way around Manhattan. There were occasional glimpses of onlookers in the show.
