Vegas, baby

So I settled in to watch a Cash Cab ep on GSN. Yes, our little game show network does show other stuff besides Harvey Feud, though you would never know it from the game show Interwebs. Anyway, one of the Vegas episodes came on. I had forgotten about these efforts, which were taped in 2010 as Discovery tried to inject a little life into the aging franchise.

For some reason I didn't much like the episode. Oh, the Vegas glitter made for a nice backdrop, but the show seemed out of whack without the gritty NYC street scenery. And I got tired of the celebs and performers who climbed into the taxi.

At least Discovery tried something new to keep the show alive. By 2010 Cash Cab was nearing empty on the gas gauge, so it wasn't a bad idea to look for a different twist. Ben was still around to provide the usual wisecracks and facial expressions. The Chicago eps of the show used a different host, and they really bombed.

Wikipedia tells me that the mayor of Las Vegas played the game on one episode. Being the mayor of Vegas must be an interesting job. Does he make decisions with a slot machine?
