Readers of this blog know about my attitude toward such festivities. This year the Daytime Emmys won't even be on TV, which is a great loss to western civilization. But there's one good thing about the awards. Peter Marshall will be part of the show, so he gave a long interview about his Emmy history, Hollywood Squares and several other topics.
For the most part Peter good-mouths everybody, though there's some of the usual vinegar about personal enemy Dan Rowan. I kind of wish Peter would let this subject go. Rowan has been dead for three decades and what's the point?
But there's a nice story about Allen Ludden winning an Emmy and a lot of other pleasant memories. Of most interest to Hollywood Squares fans is an account of how they would set up Paul Lynde with his answers. They wouldn't exactly script the entire replies, but instead give Lynde some ideas to work with.
