Most of the humor on the thread came from a poster who didn't recognize Calvin and Hobbes (the third toss-up puzzle). I suppose that a smartass reply would be: they were a Protestant theologian and a grumpy philosopher. Wikipedia tells me that those gentlemen actually lent their names to the comic strip characters. And who am I to doubt Wikipedia?
Anyway, the board had some fun with the subject. Though truth be told, it's been a long time since I read comic strips in a newspaper. It's been a long time since I read anything in a newspaper. So I can sympathize a bit with the poor poster who didn't remember C&H.
The thread ends with a couple swipes at Harry Friedman, Wheel's showrunner. He's only been running the show for twenty years, but Internet posters always know better.
