Hyundai i30 N Fastback Is The Latest Addition To Growing N Family

The Hyundai i30 N has received almost universal praise and the South Korean automaker is looking to keep the momentum rolling with additional variants. The first new body style, the i30 N Fastback, has just been spied ahead of a launch later this year.

Snapped by our photographers undergoing testing in Scandinavia, the visual differences between the Fastback and the regular i30 N hatchback model are obvious and sure to expand the vehicle’s appeal.

For the most part, the significant styling changes are visible beyond the rear passenger doors as the roofline and rear window make the vehicle look more like a sedan than anything else. For the most part, the front will look identical to the hatchback.

The Hyundai i30 N Fastback will share all of its mechanical components with the hatchback. Consequently, a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder will be the only engine on offer. With that being said, customers will be able to opt between two different state of tunes, the first of which delivers 246 hp. The range-topping Performance Package ups the ante to 271 hp.

Like its sibling, the i30 N Fastback will utilize a six-speed manual transmission and be capable of hitting 62 mph (100 km/h) in roughly six seconds with a capable driver behind the wheel.

The Hyundai N family was recently expanded to two models with the launch of the Veloster N. After the i30 N Fastback becomes the third member in the family, a performance version of the Tucson could launch.
