But I just saw the oddest ad on Buzzr, because it seems to have little to do with the network's demographics. A coin minting outfit is offering a bitcoin half dollar. Which sounds like a contradiction in terms, but the product actually seems to exist. I thought bitcoin was supposed to replace the dollar, not be half of one.
At least all the libertarian fanatics say that bitcoin is the future of money. And that's why it's hard to understand why the minting operation would peddle this product on Buzzr. The young male proponents of the cryptocurrency hardly seem like the target demo for a game show oldies diginet.
The ad is also a little misleading, because it emphasizes how bitcoin has shot up in value. Of course, bitcoin can shoot down in value - and I mean way down in value - just as rapidly. Much more importantly, this coin isn't a "real" bitcoin at all. Real bitcoins (or sort of real bitcoins) only exist on the Internet as cybernetic ghosts.
I doubt that the elderly female-skewing game show audience will be rushing to buy the pretty coins, anyway. Though the half dollars do look nice.
