Snark on this

A game show has arrived when it brings out the Internet snark police. Catty critics start dumping on the dopey contestants, crazy gameplay, and general silliness of whatever game show they're snarking about.

A critic named Claire McNear on a pop culture site called The Ringer - no, I had never heard of either one - gives the treatment to Ellen's Game of Games. She starts with the indisputable fact that the show is part of Ellenopolis, the spreading media empire of Ms. DeGeneres.

Then she hits the usual tropes. The contestants are dumb, the games are dumber, this show ain't Jeopardy. (Alex's quizzer is the one show that gets respect in these snarkfests. Jeopardy won a Peabody, don't you know.)

Finally, there's the Great Confession: "It's fun." As if fun is a national menace. Oh well, Ellen is getting less catty reviews from the Nielsen Company, so she's happy enough.
