It's getting out of control

This is turning ridiculous. The live game show app HQ drew a record 1.6 million viewers for its show yesterday.

For the festive occasion HQ tarted up the format with a few extra questions - 15 in all - and a $15,000 prize pool. Scott Rogowsky celebrated with his usual enthusiastic and sardonic host quips. The linked story frets that HQ could go the way of other hot apps, but the game show has a not-so-secret: it's live and interactive. You can't say that about Super Mario Run and a lot of other mobile phone time sinks. By the way, the record-setting HQ ep is available on YouTube. I even got a few of the questions right.

Meanwhile, CNBC reports that their effort to cheat on HQ was a wretched failure. It's just so hard to flip between Google and the game. The clock ticks down in  a hurry, after all. This won't stop people from trying to run bots to cheat more effectively, but the main problem for HQ's showrunners right now is finding some funding for the monster app. Any venture capitalists out there?
