Suppose you’re driving your new Ford Focus RS when an Audi SQ7 pulls up next to you on the traffic lights. This is going to be interesting.
Sure the two cars are not by any measure comparable but still it’s interesting to see which one is the fastest. Will it be the big diesel-powered SUV or is the grade-A hot hatch too tough for the traffic light grand prix?
The Audi SQ7 is powered by a 4.0-liter V8 TDI engine that makes use of an electric-powered compressor in order to eliminate the traditional turbo lag. Despite the big footprint, the fastest of the Q7s is capable of a 0-62mph in 4.8 seconds which sounds competitive enough for the Focus RS.
The Ford Focus RS is powered by a smaller 2.3-liter EcoBoost engine that makes 345hp channeled also to all four wheels. Ford says it’ll do a 0-62mph sprint in 4.7 seconds, making things more intriguing.
Top Gear magazine brought the two together in their latest drag race video, so let's see if the manual hot hatch will beat the big automatic diesel SUV. Ladies and gentlemen, place your bets.
