Beginning February 9 Buzzr will run Celebrity Name Game, Temptation and Richard Karn's Family Feud 8:00 PM-11:00 PM (Eastern time). By my lights the addition of Craig Ferguson and friends is terrific news. I know older-is-better fans may be nonplussed, but Celebrity Name Game was the best new syndie in a long time. I'll definitely tune in for the lively Pyramid knockoff.
Karn Feud was a serviceable version of the venerable format. In my opinion the second Richard was a lot better than the first Louie, anyway. Buzzr hardly needs more Feud, but this is not terrible news. I'm meh on the addition of Temptation. The short-lived quizzer was not an abomination, but it was pretty run of the mill. At least these shows add to "variety" on the network. Though on the game show Interwebs "variety" is usually just code for "more old stuff".
It's clear that Buzzr will no longer be only a museum for dusty relics of the genre. Maybe they're tired of a median viewer age of 139. Now that the dam is broken, I expect to see other recent Fremantle shows on the diginet. Good golly Miss Molly, the Antichrist (for the older-is-better crowd) Steve Harvey might turn up one of these days.
