I can't blame them too much. Some of the preemptions do seem capricious and motivated by little more than local station greed. One poster in the linked thread complains: As if we needed yet another way to sabotage Wheel's ratings this season.
In fact, Wheel's ratings aren't doing so bad this year. They just reached a season high in the latest Nielsen report. As I've often pointed out, the easiest way to un-sabotage Pat and Vanna's numbers would be another daily run of the show. That would almost certainly put Wheel back on top of the syndie game show ratings, with Nielsen's add 'em up method of reporting the numbers.
Another poster corrected a mistake about a preemption of Wheel in my home DFW market. While CBS station KTVT did preempt the show recently, Pat and Vanna appeared at their regular time on sister station KTXA. Of course, that showing of Wheel preempted the usual run of Millionaire on KTXA. You can't keep everybody happy.
Meanwhile, Wheel of Fortune has posted a nice Christmas greeting on YouTube. It's the Carol of the Ls. Merry Christmas, everybody.
