Cody Glass, Dillon Dube and Brett Howden had a goal and an assist apiece for the WHL and Matthew Phillips and Tyler Steenbergen also scored.
Kale Clague chipped in with three assists.
Vladislav Sukhachev started in Russia's net and allowed five goals on 26 shots through 40 minutes. Alexey Melnichuk stopped 5-of-7 shots in the third period.
The Super Series, an annual tournament between Russia and Canada's junior hockey all-stars from all three CHL leagues, continues Tuesday in Swift Current, Sask. There are six games in all.
