RIDERS WEDNESDAY PRACTICE REPORT

REGINA - The five centimetres of snow which fell on the Queen City on Wednesday caused some problems for the Roughriders' closed practice as they prepare to host the Edmonton Eskimos on Saturday (5:00 pm, TSN, 620 CKRM Rider Radio Network).

"Yeah there was an awful lot of snow out there today. A couple of inches on the surface," said Head Coach & GM Chris Jones. "We had it shoveled this morning and thought we had it off but then it kept snowing. It was good to get out there and I thought the concentration level once we got out there was very good."

Jones said traction could be a problem in Saturday's game.

"If it's like it is right now, it's going to be a slow football game," Jones predicted. "Again, there were a couple of inches of snow but hopefully they're able to get it cleared prior to the game."

The team announced its list of Most Outstanding Players for the 2017 season on Wednesday (see the post below) and it was headlined by Duron Carter as the team's MVP. However the club's leading receiver was unable to discuss the honour since he left the facility immediately after practice due to the flu.

Meanwhile the Riders announced the signing of former Edmonton Eskimos running back Shakir Bell.
