I never knew there was a web site called American Librarian, but it actually exists. They just posted a long story about various librarians who have appeared on Jeopardy over the years. It's the natural game show for bookworms, after all. In an attempt to make the profession sound more intriguing, they title the story: "The Badass Librarians of Jeopardy." Honest, that's what they call the story.
One of the badasses is a lady named Julie Hornick. She appeared on the show March 12, 2014, which just happened to be the ep when Arthur Chu met his comeuppance. (Oh, happy day.)
YouTube records the joyous occasion, though Julie had little to smile about. She did win the second place prize when Arthur zeroed out. But she named the wrong British king, and that doomed her.
For some reason the American Librarian story omits the Arthur connection. But they do offer a final comment from Julie about her experience. It was exciting to be there, but I felt like I’d let myself down, as unreasonable as that is. I'd dreamed of it for so long, I thought, “This'll be so exciting,” and all of a sudden, it was over.
Yep, it ain't over until it's over, but it was over.
