Valerie then and now

Rambling through the game show Interwebs, I came across a note that Valerie Bertinelli owns an odd distinction. She's the first (and so far only) celeb to appear on Match Game with both Gene Rayburn and Alec Baldwin. Today I happened to have indulged in one of my occasional MG binges across GSN and Buzzr, so I rummaged further into Internet lore about Valerie and the greatest game show ever.

An odd note: the oldies boards seem convinced that Valerie has laid a verboten on Fremantle from ever showing her old Match Game eps. Is this another apocryphal bit of Internet legend, or is there actually some reason for Ms. Bertinelli to want her old MG appearances buried?

I couldn't find any visual trace of Valerie on the 1970s show, so maybe the oldies boards are right. Though she does show up on Hollywood Squares from the same time period, where I got half of the screenshot. And she obviously doesn't mind YouTube recording her turn on the current Match Game, which is where I got the other half of the screenshot.

Could she have given some really dumb answers on the old Match Game? She seemed competent enough with Alec Baldwin and friends. This might be an unsolved mystery.
