Snooper Snooper Snooper

Ever since TBS announced that Snoop Dogg would host their reboot of Joker's Wild, the Interwebs have been wondering what the toking rapper would do with Jack Barry's ancient format.

Well, he didn't destroy it, if the debut ep was any indication. Sure, the rewind was tarted up with electronic whizbangery and fuzzy Snoop bits, but the audience still got to yell "joker, joker, joker." Which is what counts on this format, right?

Just to make sure that Snoop didn't bollix up the rules in one of his stonier moments, the producers brought in Jeannie Mai as the co-host, and she more or less ran the show. She went through the rules and kept the rounds running at a reasonable clip.

Of course, there were a lot of "toker, toker, toker" gibes about Snoop hosting the reboot. So on the debut ep the showrunners decided to embrace the meme with constant weed references and questions. In fact, the grass grew so thick around the episode, it got to be more than a little silly. But what else did you expect from Mr. Broadus?

Beneath all the goofiness and electronics, the show remained a moderately paced quizzer that won't strain too many people's brains. There were also some jagged edits, which might indicate a few rough patches in the taping. Maybe they need two co-hosts to keep things running smoothly.
