But this week ABC's Fresh Off The Boat will feature a couple of series regulars appearing on Wheel of Fortune. Best as I can figure, one of the characters is thrilled to be on the game show and one of them isn't. At least that's what the screenshot indicates.
Crossovers between game shows and sitcoms date back for decades. Jackie Gleason's Honeymooners put Ralph and Alice on Beat the Clock back in the fifties. It makes for easy joke writing, and the sitcom can piggyback on the reputation of the game show.
By the way, we now know why those eggcrate displays showed up a few months ago on some photos from the Wheel of Fortune set. They were for this sitcom, which is set back in the nineties. Fresh Off The Boat seems to have made no other attempts to "retro-fy" the WoF set, though.
