Quiet, please

Before today I had never watched a minute of the rebranded Universal Kids channel.

But this is a full-service game show blog. So I did my duty and watched today's premiere of the network's new game show, The Noise. The premise is actually kind of sweet, which is what a premise should be on a kids channel. Parents are always telling children to stop making so much racket. So on The Noise kid contestants perform various stunts while trying not to make a peep. Microphones are everywhere to pick the slightest, well, noise. The less noise, the more points.

The contestants on the debut ep were two pairs of state-of-the-art cute twins. They seemed to enjoy the antics, though I thought they were occasionally fed a scripted line or two. Which vaguely irritated me for some reason. Faruq Tauheed hosted, and he came off as maximum smarmy to me. But the kids seemed to like him, which is important on a kid game show.

I couldn't help noticing that the commercials were a little different from the parade of Medicare supplements and diabetes meds on GSN and Buzzr. Party City and DC Comics got some time, along with a bunch of ads for the moms in the audience.
