CARTER TO START AT CORNER AGAINST STAMPS

Saskatchewan Roughriders Head Coach & GM Chris Jones threw the CFL for a loop on Wednesday when he announced after the team's Day 3 practice that veteran receiver Duron Carter will start at cornerback Friday against the Stampeders in Calgary:

"Guys, he is going to be playing a lot of football. Okay?" Jones said. "I mean, he is going to be a tired young man after this football game. So, that's all it is. That's where he's going to play. You're going to see him out there a bunch."

Jones said Carter - the team's leading receiver - will also see action on the offensive side of the ball but the plan is for him to start at corner.

"Will he play every snap on offense?" Jones continued. "No. Will he play every defensive snap? No. But he's going to play a lot of football."

Jones said the decision was made due to injuries to DBs Kacey Rodgers, Chris Lyles and Sam Williams.

The announcement by Jones has already sent Twitter ablaze, including a feud between Carter and Stampeders' quarterback Bo Levi Mitchell.
