More garbage

As I wrote a while ago, Game Show Garbage seems to be showing intermittent signs of life. I thought the site had packed it in long ago, but once in a while there's an update. (The latest was August 12th, according to the front page.)

Meanwhile, the site is running its Patrick Wayne award for the garbage-est game show of the year. As usual, most of the nominees are hardly terrible, but GSG has to pretend that they're worthy of a Nuremberg war crimes tribunal.

In fact, a couple of good shows make the list of the supposedly shameful five: Divided and The Wall. About all that GSN can say bad about the second show is that it's a Plinko ripoff. Well, BFD. Celebrity Name Game is a Pyramid ripoff, and it's a terrific show. In the game show world, a ripoff isn't necessarily bad. It all depends on what you do with the ripped-off idea. And The Wall has spruced up Plinko with plenty of interesting gameplay nooks and crannies.

I'm not sure what their beef is with Divided, because their criticism is just content-free, generic whining. Maybe they don't like contestant arguments. Who knows, who cares?

Survivor makes the list, and it's not even a game show. There's also a YouTube game I've never heard of. Finally, there's the show which is getting the most votes so far, Save To Win. Sure, this shopping game is one long Family Dollar plug, though again it's just a little dull but hardly a monstrosity.

Not many people are bothering to vote. 89 at the latest count.
