A learning experience

With reruns galore and the Labor Day weekend coming up, game show news is a little scarce lately.

So I'll do something I've done before. I'll write about the first game show item that turns up in a Google News search. Which happens to be this story from Hattiesburg, MS.

The first thing to note is that the Hattiesburg American is clearly a Gannett outlet. It has that USA Today format that puts news sites from all over the country in a lookalike straitjacket. The second thing to note is that GSN's Divided is still running new eps, which creates contestant stories. The contestant in this story is named Terence Wade, and he's a sometime actor originally from Hattiesburg.

As contestant stories go, this one is okay. Terence talks about how Divided taught him about listening. I'm a really bad listener myself, so this is probably not the show for me. The story also has some interesting material about Divided's auditions.

One cautionary note: the story explains Divided's gameplay in a way that indicates most people have never even heard of the show, much less watched it. Sadly, the Nielsen Company agrees with this assessment.
