The Cardinals opened the scoring in the second inning to take an early one run lead. Regina countered with 12 unanswered runs before Yorkton added a final run in the ninth. The 12-2 loss dropped Yorkton to 9-24 and extended their winless streak to four games.
Yorkton starter Kyle Stevenson had a rough evening as the Red Sox batters tagged him for seven runs on nine hits and two walks. Derek Marshall and Zachary Sharp came out of the Cardinal bullpen to finish the game.
Jake Waters got the start for the Regina Red Sox and had a very good outing. Waters only allowed one run on six hits and three walks, as well he had six strikeouts. Kendal Daniels was summoned from the Red Sox bullpen to pitch the next two innings. The local product shut down the Yorkton hitters before turning the game over to Chase Boone and Justin Magstadt.
Jackson Soto, Parker Smejkal and Jake Davidson all had two hits in the game for Yorkton.
Jordan Schulz and Aden Campbell both had doubles and home runs in the game. The homers came in the eighth inning to supply insurance runs for the Sox.
Regina and Swift Current are tied for first in the Eastern Division with identical 21-11 records.
The Red Sox now travel to Weyburn to play the Beavers on Thursday night.
