RIDERS READY FOR MOCK GAME

The Saskatchewan Roughriders are set to host their 2017 Mock Game and Fan Day on Saturday in Saskatoon. Doors open at 2:00 pm at SMF Field and the game begins at 4:00 pm.

For the roughly 90 players in camp with the Green & White, Saturday will be their first "dress rehearsal" after six days of training camp.

"On Saturday you'll see more of the back-up guys (QBs)," said Roughriders Head Coach & GM Chris Jones. "Kevin Glenn will get his snaps like normal but we'll try to get the others more snaps and our new guys gotta get some snaps. We'll let just it play out."

Jones was asked if this is a "make or break" game for his players.

"No." Jones said flatly. "There's a couple guys where we'll need to make some hard decisions. They've gotta understand they're playing pro football and not college or high school football. When they keep making the same mistakes over and over, we'll have to go in a different direction.

"It's never something that's easy to do and sometimes guys don't understand the finality of pro sports."

Jones described Friday's workout as "very lethargic" and he hopes that doesn't carry over into Saturday's mock game. He was disappointed with the team's performance in this scrimmage a year ago.

"That wasn't a very good day," Jones laughed. "It looked a lot like what we did (Friday). I'm hoping that they come out more crisp and we move on to do some more positive things. They've gotta be assignment sound and we've gotta be running around defensively. Defensively it doesn't matter what we call. If you play with great effort and great speed, usually it makes up for all the mistakes."

On Saturday the Saskatchewan Roughriders announced the following roster moves:

SIGNED:

·       International linebacker Derrick Moncrief

RELEASED:

·       International defensive back Cedric Hill
