I like to note these stories from time to time because smart (a.k.a. nerdy) kids in high school deserve a little credit now and then. School is supposed to be about getting a little smarter, right? Or maybe it's just for picking up dates, I dunno.
Anyway, this high school quizzer is called East Tennessee PBS Scholars' Bowl, which is about as nerdy a name as you can get. Somebody in Tennessee is painfully literal-minded when it comes to naming things.
The show taped before the lockdowns hit, though I hear the iron grip is starting to loosen in Tennessee. The eps start on June 1, and there are some photos and a video in the linked story. Good luck to all the kids in the competition.
The host is a guy named Frank Murphy. Don't know anything about him, but I guess he's some kind of TV personality in Tennessee. He does offer a few funny remarks about how he liked to torture his sisters with trivia questions when he was a kid. Trivia can be tortuous at times.
